The right surf wax makes a huge difference to how your board feels in the water. Without proper grip, even perfect waves won’t help. At Boardwalk, you’ll find surf wax from classic brands like Mr. Zog’s Sex Wax and Sticky Bumps – for everything from cold Nordic waters to tropical surf trips.

Which surf wax should you choose?

Different surf wax formulas are made for different water temperatures. Choosing the right one gives better grip and longer-lasting performance.

Common options include:

• Cold water surf wax – ideal for colder conditions
• Cool / warm water wax – for moderate temperatures
• Tropical surf wax – for warm water destinations

Basecoat and top coat

Many surfers start with a basecoat to build texture on the board, then apply regular surf wax on top for maximum grip.
Basecoat is especially important when surfing in cold water and using very soft wax. This helps the softer wax stay in place instead of sliding around on the board.

If your board already has a solid wax base, a quick refresh is often enough.
