Join Boardwalk on a surf adventure to some of the Maldives' most celebrated waves and experience life aboard Horizon II together with a small group of surfers.
March is one of the best times of the year to surf the Southern Atolls. The water temperature is around 28°C (82°F), the waves are often long and playful, and the area attracts far fewer surfers than the more crowded atolls around Malé.
Flights from Copenhagen or Stockholm, domestic flights within the Maldives, transfers, accommodation onboard, full board and a surf guide are included.
This trip is designed for surfers who want to maximise their time in the water.
We’ll be staying aboard Horizon II, a smaller surf liveaboard with room for just 12 guests. Each day is planned around the swell, wind and tides to make the most of the conditions and give the group the best possible surfing experience.
Sunrise surf sessions, multiple sessions throughout the day, lunch onboard between surfs, and dinner under the stars in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
That’s exactly why you come to the Maldives.

Huvadhoo and Addu lie in the southernmost part of the Maldives and are home to some of the country's most sought-after waves.
What makes this region special is the combination of:
Unlike the Malé region, many of the surf breaks in the Southern Atolls are located close to one another. That means less time travelling and more time in the water.
It's not uncommon to spend a session with only a handful of surfers in the lineup, and sometimes just one or two other surf boats in the entire area.

This trip is a great fit if you:
✅ Can paddle out and handle yourself in the lineup
✅ Consistently catch and ride unbroken waves
✅ Can trim and turn along the face of a wave with control
✅ Want to surf multiple sessions a day
✅ Are comfortable surfing over reef
❌ Are a beginner surfer
❌ Want to learn how to surf from scratch
❌ Are looking for a resort-style holiday
❌ Are uncomfortable living aboard a boat for the duration of the trip
The Southern Atolls are best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers looking to experience some of the Maldives' best waves while travelling with a small group of like-minded surfers.
During the trip, we’ll have the opportunity to surf several of the Southern Atolls' most renowned breaks.
A long and playful right-hander that works in a wide range of conditions and is a favourite among both local surfers and visiting surfers.
A fast and fun left-hander with clean walls and the potential for long rides.
One of the region’s most celebrated right-handers. When the conditions line up, it can offer long, fast sections and some of the best surfing in the area.
A mellow and enjoyable right-hander set in crystal-clear water surrounded by stunning tropical scenery.
A unique break that offers both left- and right-hand waves, making it a fun option for a variety of conditions.
The exact surf breaks we visit will depend on the swell, wind, tides and conditions during the trip.

A typical day begins with an early morning surf session before breakfast.
After breakfast, there’s time for more surf sessions throughout the day. When we're not in the water, you can go snorkelling, try your hand at fishing, explore tropical islands or simply relax on deck and enjoy the surroundings.
After the final surf of the day, we gather onboard for dinner as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
The crew consists of:
Together, they make sure we get the most out of every day on the water.

Horizon II is a smaller surf liveaboard designed specifically for surfers.
The maximum capacity onboard is 12 guests.
We stay in shared twin cabins onboard Horizon II.
All cabins feature:
The cabins are simple but comfortable and designed to provide everything you need during the trip.
This is not a luxury cruise. It's a surf trip where the focus is on the waves, the experience and the camaraderie onboard.

All meals are served onboard and included in the trip.
The menu combines local Maldivian flavours with international favourites, featuring fresh fish, rice, pasta, vegetables and tropical fruits. Freshly caught fish is often part of the experience, and guests will have the opportunity to sample traditional Maldivian dishes during the trip.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily, along with coffee, tea and light snacks throughout the day.
One surfboard up to 7 feet is included with your flight.
Due to restrictions on domestic flights within the Maldives, surfboards longer than 7 feet cannot be transported.
Surfboards longer than 7 feet cannot fit in the cargo hold of the aircraft used for domestic flights within the Maldives.
If you normally surf longer boards, we recommend renting a board locally instead of bringing your own.
Boardwalk can provide a list of recommended surfboards available for hire in the Maldives.
The Maldives charges a mandatory Green Tax of USD 12 per person per day.
For this trip, the total cost is approximately USD 120 per person.
Gratuities for the crew are not included in the trip price.
The recommended service gratuity is approximately USD 150 per person, payable in cash at the end of the trip.
Coffee, tea and drinking water are included.
Soft drinks, beer and wine are available for purchase onboard and are settled in cash at the end of the trip.
Any purchases on the islands, optional excursions or other personal expenses are not included.
We recommend budgeting approximately USD 270 (around SEK 3,000) in addition to the trip price, plus any personal spending during the trip.
A minimum of 10 participants is required for the trip to go ahead.
The trip will be confirmed no later than June 1, 2027.
A SEK 10,000 deposit is required to reserve your spot.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached and the trip is therefore not confirmed, the deposit will be refunded in full.
Once the minimum number of participants has been reached and the trip has been confirmed in writing, the booking becomes binding according to Apollo's booking conditions.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 90 days before departure, in accordance with Apollo's booking conditions.
The trip is limited to 11 participants, plus Christian from Boardwalk.
The trip is booked and operated in partnership with Apollo Sports.
This trip is organised in partnership with Apollo Sports, and all bookings, payments and travel documents are handled directly by Apollo.
As a traveller, you are protected by Swedish package travel regulations and Apollo's travel guarantee scheme, providing strong consumer protection both before and during your trip.
Boardwalk's role is to bring the group together and be represented throughout the trip, while Apollo acts as the official tour operator and is responsible for bookings, payments and the overall operation of the trip.
This gives you the security of travelling with an established Swedish tour operator while enjoying the experience of exploring the Maldives with a small group of surfers from the Boardwalk community.
After many years of running Boardwalk, I’ve long wanted to organise a surf trip to the tropics together with customers, friends and fellow surfers from our community.
When the opportunity came up to arrange a liveaboard in the Southern Atolls of the Maldives, it felt like the perfect fit.
This trip isn’t about luxury or resort living. It’s about surfing, good company and the experience of waking up in the middle of the Indian Ocean with world-class waves just minutes away.
I’ll be joining the trip myself from start to finish and look forward to sharing the experience with all of you.
